The Saint Vincent Depaul Society Emergency food pantry is open Tuesday mornings from 9:30-11 and Friday Evenings from 5:00 to 6:00 PM and is located in the basement of the Church.
LITURGICAL MINISTRIES
- EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS share the Eucharist with the community during weekend and holy day liturgies. Possibility of bringing Communion to the sick and homebound. By invitation from the Pastor.
- LECTORS share the Word of God with the community during weekend, holy day, and/or weekday liturgies. Training will be provided.
- GREETERS share with community in the following ways: welcome people, distribute and collect song books for Mass, coordinate volunteers to pass the collection basket and present the gifts, and distribute bulletins at the end of Mass.
- MUSIC MINISTERS share their talents with the community by voicing creation’s praise, using their musical gifts (vocal and/or instrumental) in response to God’s Love for all and inviting the Assembly of God’s people to do the same. Ministers sought for adult and junior choirs and a contemporary ensemble.
- ALTAR SERVERS assist at weekend and holy day liturgies. Minimum requirements are 10 years old and/or 4th grade; the ability to handle sacred objects (e.g. The Book, wine and water, etc.).
- LITURGY COMMITTEE oversees the liturgical life of the parish, prepares and implements various special celebrations, addresses liturgical questions and assists the staff in providing education in liturgy for the parish.
- CHILDRENS’ LITURGY OF THE WORD plans, implements and oversees a celebration of the Liturgy of the Word with our young people, as well as the Christmas pageant, Stations of the Cross for children, and other liturgical celebrations.
SOCIAL JUSTICE
- ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY serves needy families in the West Plymouth area by providing food, clothing, furniture and funds on an emergency basis. SVDP also sponsors food drives at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, and coordinates the Giving Trees program which provide holiday gifts for the needy at Christmas.
- CHRISTIAN SERVICE COMMITTEE provides opportunities for the community to engage in service activities affecting others within as well as beyond parish boundaries. Current projects: greeting cards to new, the ill and the bereaved parishioners, rides and meals for those in time of need, Sunday dinner at a local homeless shelter every few months, and the Anointing of the Sick Luncheon in the fall.
- RESPECT LIFE COMMITTEE strives to enhance the community’s awareness of, and respect for the sanctity of life from conception until natural death.
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
- SOCIAL COMMITTEE plans and coordinates specific social events throughout the year. Activities include the parish picnic and other occasions for socializing among parishioners.
- HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE provides refreshments for special occasions (activated as needed).
- YOUTH MINISTRY design events that contribute to the spiritual, social, and personal development of our youth within a safe, Christian environment. Adult volunteers are needed to help plan, chaperone and provide transportation for individual programs as well as for the overall ministry. Both middle school and high school programs are active and need assistance.
ADMINISTRATION
- PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL is a central advisory committee comprised of the pastor, the deacon, the pastoral staff, and a number of elected and appointed parishioners.
- FUND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE sponsors various activities, which raise money for parish expenses, including a thrift shop, monthly Bottle Drive, Pancake Breakfast, Church Suppers, Golf Classic, and Cell Phone Recycling Program.
- STEWARDHIP COMMITTEE plans, organizes and executes the annual Stewardship renewal.
- OFFICE HELP assists office staff with large mailings, shredding, answering of telephones any other office project as needed.
- TECHNOLOGY RESOURCE POOL: Most of the technology in use at Blessed Kateri is maintained by volunteers. If you work in the field of: PC repair specialist, network engineer, application support, firewall and security, Panasonic telephone and voicemail support, network cabling, disaster recovery or audio/video distribution or any other related field perhaps you would enjoy volunteering your time and talent to support Blessed Kateri’s growing technology needs. SPIRITUAL RENEWAL
- SPIRITUAL LIFE COMMITTEE helps coordinate and plan parish and cluster activities, including such events as cluster retreats, parish missions and parish retreats.
- PRAYER LINE – members pray for special intentions.
- PRISON MINISTRY: St. Dismas Catholic Prison Ministry is a Christ Centered, faith filled community of volunteers to help the men of the Plymouth Correctional Facility, by reflecting Christ’s presence and answering His call to visit the imprisoned.
SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION
- BAPTISM PREPARATION - Ministry team assists parents and godparents in preparing for the Sacrament of Baptism at a pre Baptism meeting. Team also offers hospitality, support, and help at the ceremony.
- ENGAGED COUPLES WORKSHOP – Married couples are needed to share their relationship and to lead discussion groups for engaged couples.
- CONFIRMATION RETREAT TEAM – Team plans and organizes the annual retreat for those preparing for receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
- RELIGIOUS EDUCATION TEACHERS/AIDES – adults willing to share their faith journey with young people, helping them to discover God’s presence and love in their lives.
- R.C.I.A. TEAM – Volunteers willing to share their faith with persons desiring to join the Catholic Church. They help the catechumens and candidates for full communion find answers to their questions and help them discover God’s presence in their life.
- CHILD ADVOCATE COMMITTEE – The Archdiocese of Boston Child Advocacy, Implementation and Oversight Office is requiring that all parishes implement “Talk About Touching” into their curriculum as part of out Religious Education Program in Grades 1-4. This program is being mandated by the Archdiocese of Boston. If you have a specialty in the area of child psychology, child development, or are a doctor or nurse who works with children, a school counselor , a social worker, law enforcement, or have been part of a child safety program we need you.
OTHER
- PARISH HEALTH MINISTRY is composed of Registered Nurses and other Health Care Professionals. The mission of parish nursing is the intentional integration of the practice of faith with the practice of nursing so that individuals can achieve wholeness in, with and through the community of faith which parish nurses serve. Please tell us about the talents you can share that we have not listed.
- RESOURCE POOL – Volunteers would be called upon as needed. A list of people who are willing to help would be created and given to individual chairpersons, as needs arise. Such activities would include but not limited to Snow Shoveling, Tree Removal, Plant Care Inside, Plant Care Outside, Cooking/Baking for special events, Laundering Altar Linens, Laundering Altar Server Robes, Sunday Coffee, Cook and Deliver Meals for Ill and Bereaved, General Repair Work, Masonry, Painting, etc. Please let us know your talent that you would like to share with us.
